Pontianak — A surprising incident occurred in Pontianak early Sunday morning (April 27) around 1:35 AM. A young boy was detained by the Large-Scale Patrol Team and "Enggang" Patrol Team of the Pontianak City Police after being found carrying a machete and a firecracker in the Martapura Street area.
The arrest happened during a routine patrol aimed at preventing nighttime crimes. According to Police Chief Kombes Pol Adhe Hariadi, S.I.K., M.H., via Head of Samapta Unit AKP Samidi, officers noticed the boy acting suspiciously and uneasy when he saw the police approaching.
“Upon inspection, we found a machete and a firecracker inside the bag he was carrying,” said AKP Samidi to reporters.
The boy was then taken to the Pontianak City Police Headquarters for further questioning. Authorities have not yet released details about the motive or intent behind carrying those dangerous items. However, the incident serves as a serious warning for everyone—especially parents.
