English Article: PSG Are a Different Proposition Compared to October, Says Luis Enrique. |
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) will travel to Arsenal for the second time this season, this time meeting in the Champions League semi-finals after losing 2-0 during the group stage back in October.
According to head coach Luis Enrique, PSG are now a much stronger side than when they played Arsenal earlier this season. Despite losing 2-0 with goals from Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka, Enrique believes his team has improved significantly and will be a more difficult opponent this time.
"That was seven or eight months ago. I watched the match again, and we are a much better team today," Enrique said in his pre-match press conference.
PSG has made significant strides since that loss. They secured their fourth consecutive Ligue 1 title, reached the final of the Coupe de France, and knocked out Liverpool and Aston Villa from the Champions League. Enrique is confident that these achievements have made PSG a stronger and more complete team.
"We had a very intense group stage, with many games that could have been finals. It put us in a difficult position, but it has made us much stronger and more complete," Enrique added.
He emphasized that while this is a Champions League semi-final, both teams share the same ultimate goal — to win. The key, according to Enrique, will be managing the pressure.
Arsenal, on the other hand, come into this match with high confidence, having beaten Real Madrid 5-1 on aggregate in the quarter-finals. They are also unbeaten at home in European competitions, with seven wins and one draw in their last eight matches.
However, PSG faces a challenge of their own. They have lost five of their last six away games against English teams in the Champions League. Nonetheless, Enrique remains optimistic that his side can rise to the occasion.
"They are one of the best teams in Europe, and they've been doing a remarkable job with their coach for several years now," Enrique said. "We all deserve to be here. I like my team the most, that's why I'm here. Some people will like Paris more, others Arsenal, that's part of life."
Both Arsenal and PSG share the same ambition of winning the Champions League for the first time in their club's history. Luis Enrique also remarked, "The objective is difficult to achieve. That doesn't mean we're under any pressure; we're ambitious."
"PSG has never won the Champions League? Neither have Arsenal. We mustn't let that stop us from performing at the highest level. We have to keep that in mind but concentrate on what we need to do," Enrique concluded.
All eyes will be on this exciting semi-final clash. Will PSG be able to turn things around and defeat Arsenal? Only time will tell.
