Medan – A shocking case of betrayal unfolded in Medan as a man named Ali, also known as Awi (47), stole a large sum of money from his own brother’s company. The incident occurred when Awi robbed Fahriza, an employee of PT Widya Tekhno Abadi Co, a company owned by his elder brother. The stolen amount reached hundreds of millions of rupiah before the police managed to capture the suspect.

According to the Director of Criminal Investigation at the North Sumatra Regional Police, Kombes Pol. Sumaryono, S.H., S.I.K., M.H., Awi was arrested in connection with the robbery of Fahriza, who was assigned to deposit company funds at the bank.

“Awi was involved in the robbery of Fahriza, who is an employee at his brother’s company,” said Kombes Pol. Sumaryono, as quoted by Senanews on Monday (March 24, 2025).

The Robbery Incident

The crime took place on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, around 12:00 PM on Jalan Brigjen Zein Hamid Berlian Sari, Titi Kuning Village, Medan Johor District, Medan City. On that day, Fahriza was entrusted with depositing IDR 510 million into Bank Mandiri on Jalan Brigjen Katamso, Medan.

The money was split into two portions: IDR 280 million was kept in a backpack, while IDR 230 million was stored under the seat of a Honda Vario motorcycle that Fahriza was riding.

Shortly after leaving the office, Awi approached Fahriza and pretended to ask for a ride. During the ride, Awi inquired about the money's location, and unsuspectingly, Fahriza disclosed that some of the cash was in his backpack, while the rest was under the motorcycle seat.

While on the way, Awi suddenly asked Fahriza to stop, claiming he wanted to buy cigarettes. When Fahriza refused, Awi turned violent, forcefully taking control of the motorcycle and escaping with IDR 230 million stored under the seat.
